The Rotary Club of Alliston – now New Tecumseth Rotary – kicks off the annual Alliston Potato Festival with a Friday night parade.  Come out and see the entries from some of New Tecumseth’s best known community organizations, such as Matthews House and the Alliston Food Bank, along with leading corporate entries like Honda of Canada and Murphy’s Farm Market.  We’ll have the Shriners with their go-karts, marching bands, kids, animals and fantastic trucks and monster agricultural machines to wow you.

The parade starts at Banting Memorial High School at 7:00 PM and travels west along Victoria Street through Alliston’s historic downtown, turning south on Ontario Street where it winds up at Nelson Street about 8:15 PM.  There will be road closures in effect for all the access points along Victoria from Industrial Parkway/County Road 10 to King Street.  But spectators from the north can get close to Victoria via Fletcher Crescent (Stevenson Memorial Hospital) from King to Church Street or by 5th Side Road to Scotch Line/Boyne Street.  If you’re coming from the south, you can use Albert Street to Dufferin, Centre, Church, Paris or Ontario Streets.

Come out on the 8th of August and join in the celebration.  And be sure to check out all the fun stuff happening at multiple venues around Alliston on the Saturday and Sunday that follow.
